Meet Arrnott

Arrnott is a cook, singer, editor and mental health advocate and yes – he is also a former My Kitchen Rules contestant. He may also be one of the happiest people in our Newtown gym. Food, family, and communication are at the core of Arrnott's life. He loves to bring people together through his cooking and music, celebrating the importance of shared experiences and creating connections. Arrnott uses his platform to raise awareness and promote discussions about mental well-being. This commitment to mental health stems from a deep belief in the importance of holistic health and the well-being of individuals and communities.

the challenge

Arrnott, like all of us, struggled with the isolation of COVID and found his physical and mental health suffered immensely. This, in combination with the sudden passing of his mum, saw Arrnott turn to food for comfort.

After a major health overhaul in 2018, Arnott lost over 50kg in the space of eight months, something in retrospect he acknowledges was

In 2023, Arrnott found himself in need of guidance to assist in getting his physical and mental health back to a place where he felt confident without needing to restrict his love of food. Functional day-to-day movements had become a challenge.

THE PROGRAM

The initial stages of Arrnott's training focused on mobility and general strength. Exercise selection aimed to increase Arrnott's range of motion, assisting his ability to perform everyday tasks easily. JP and Arrnott trained together twice a week, with Arrnott completing one other session solo. Outside of the gym, JP wanted to ensure Arrnott felt comfortable on his feet for extended periods to assist him in being able to cook for longer periods.

THE OUTCOME

After 3 months of working together, JP and Arrnott began the initial stages of transforming Arrnott's physical and mental health and developed a fantastic relationship.
