Matty’s all about making his sessions challenging yet fun. He’s a bit of a comedian, so he’ll have you laughing through the pain.
Matty McCormick is not only an experienced Personal Trainer, but also Fitness Playground Marrickville’s resident comedian. Matty’s background in and passion for Rugby League led him to pursue a career in fitness seven years ago. His patient and realistic approach to fitness coaching is what motivates his clients – everyday people – to achieve greatness.
Matty continuously revolutionises his clients’ workouts with creative challenges and competitions, such as the ingeniously named Cliympics (Client Olympics) and Queen/King of The Gym. With years of experience coaching a wide array of abilities, both in London and Sydney, Matty values giving his clients autonomy and helping them to take pride in even the smallest fitness achievements. Matty believes training should be as fun as it is challenging. His training programs are evidence-based and impactful but, most importantly, enjoyable.

My philosophy is to make training accessible yet challenging and effective for each individual. People are more likely to continue with training if they feel it is making a difference to their lives and are rewarded, so this is why I always celebrate every achievement that clients reach. Fitness should be enjoyable, so I aim to have my clients laughing throughout the workouts… even if they’re laughing at my expense!

PT Client Reviews
“I would highly recommend Matty as a Personal Trainer as well as life coach! I didn’t really know where to begin with my fitness journey and Matty helped me to form clear, short-term and long-term goals that I actually wanted to achieve. He always identified areas where I was making progress, even when I didn’t realise I was making any! This meant I could see the bigger picture and began to believe in myself and my abilities more. This crossed over into other areas of my life too and I thank Matty for instilling more self-belief in me!”
“Matty adjusted our sessions whenever required – through injury, timing changes or whatever else. I have a very busy schedule and Matty was able to create a program that not only fit within my schedule but also helped make an actual, lasting impact on my fitness. I’ve had several trainers in the past, but Matty was the most understanding, unique and effective for me.”
“Matt is a fantastic Personal Trainer. He was able to tailor the personal training sessions to my hockey needs and lifestyle. I have had quite a few injuries in the last year, and he was able to modify our sessions on the fly – no dramas! Matt has managed to deliver results even with my bad eating and sleeping habits. I love Matt’s energy, enthusiasm and silly dancing!”
