“Your direction is more important than your speed. I’d rather be going slowly in the right direction than quickly in the wrong.”
Through his experience in elite sports, Alexander has developed a system to help clients recover (and prevent) injuries.
Through his many years of experience in the elite sports world, Personal Trainer Alexander Hobbs has developed a sound understanding of how well the body can perform and how to help fix the many issues that can arise from the field or everyday life.
Through the integration of fundamental basics and progressions and regressions of movement patterns, he has created a foolproof personal training system that has helped many clients recover from injuries – and, most importantly, help reduce the chance of reinjury in the future.
- Injury / Movement Rehabilitation
- Athletic Performance / Sport-Specific Training
- Boxing Training
If my training philosophy could be summed up into one word, it would have to be “‘BASICS”. Practice the basics and get really good at them. This will build you a good foundation that will not only get you strong and fix injuries but also help to reduce the risk of reinjury somewhere down the line.

3 fun facts
- My Dad’s side of the family is Kiwi and my uncle was the captain of the New Zealand All Blacks in the 80s.
- Growing up I played a lot of Rugby Union but after far too many injuries and a few years away from sports I had a complete change, and now I train as an amateur boxer, with the goal of moving into the professional ranks in the future.
- My very first job was working at Boost Juice In Newtown when I was 14. I got paid $9 an hour on a Sunday because apparently my boss paid a “higher average wage” instead of the standard weekend rates. I believe I did 3 shifts.

PT Client Reviews
“I have been doing personal training with Alex for the past 18 months and have learnt a lot. I came in with pretty unrealistic ideals but I’ve learnt through Alex that progress will always be progress, no matter how small, and that consistency is key, as opposed to rushed results. He’s always ready to answer any and all questions I have, and is very informative and knowledgeable. He has grown to be not only my Personal Trainer but a great friend in the past 18 months. Wonderful person!”
“I have been training with Alex for just over 2 years now. I have had multiple Personal Trainers in the past, but no one has taken the time to really build my technique to where it needed to be the way Alex has. Not only have I been training pain free for the best part of 18 months now, I have also hit and surpassed every single one of the original goals that we planned from the outset. On top of all that I’m extremely grateful to have developed a close friendship with Alex, and that is a true testament to the genuine care he has for myself, and all of his clients.”
“Alex is the sixth Personal Trainer I’ve seen in seven years. He’s the first to actually listen to my concerns and take numerous steps and approaches to ensure the training is right for me. He’s responsive, agile, and willing to research and find new ways of doing things. An absolute pleasure to train with and a credit to the FP team.”
“Over the past few months, I’ve come to cherish my time spent training with Alexander Hobbs. He’s a kind and endearing person who has contributed significantly to the development of my physical being as well as my mindset towards exercise and personal development. Alex is a charismatic individual who is very knowledgeable and exudes passion for his career. I was very fortunate to get paired with Alex, and I am proud to consider him a friend. He’s been there for me since my beginning at the gym and I hope he’ll stick with me for the foreseeable future and beyond.”
