Your Playgrounds are Evolving: What’s Coming to Surry Hills, Marrickville and North Sydney

By One Playground

We believe a club should keep getting better the longer you’re part of it.

As One Playground grows, continuing to improve our existing clubs remains just as important. For members who have trained with us for years, that means fresh experiences within a familiar space, more ways to work towards your goals, and more value from your membership.

Over the next three months, we’re investing in Surry Hills, Marrickville and North Sydney, bringing new studios, upgraded training spaces and refreshed amenities to the places you already know.

These additions are part of your One membership and will continue to be included. Here’s your first look at what’s ahead.

1. Surry Hills: A New Experience Across Three Levels

One Playground Surry Hills is set for a transformation, with changes across all three levels, from the spaces where you train to the amenities you use every visit.

The ground floor will receive a refresh with new machines, dumbbells, racks and barbells, alongside an updated layout to make moving through your workout feel more intuitive.

The top floor is undergoing a complete refurbishment, which will give the space a new look and feel.

Studio Updates

Bringing Reformer Into the Club

Our current Mindbody studio will become a dedicated Reformer Pilates studio, bringing Reformer into the Surry Hills location as we say goodbye to our Cooper Street studio.

Your Mindbody classes will have a home nearby, in the Space studio at Urban Oasis. You can continue to make time for those sessions while exploring the new spaces at Surry Hills.

Battleground Flooring

The flooring in Battleground will also be replaced, giving the studio a fresh feel for your next Athletica, Badass or Gunshow class. No excuses not to choose the heavy weights!

2. Marrickville: A New Space for Strength and HIIT & New Studio

Refreshed Amenities

Alongside the new studio, Marrickville’s bathrooms and amenities will be completely renovated, bringing a fresh feel to an essential part of your everyday club experience.

Pulse is coming to One Playground Marrickville, transforming the current Elements studio into a dedicated environment for muscle building and high-intensity training.

The studio brings together structured programming, individual training stations, music and lighting, with each element shaping how the session feels.

Some days, the focus is on building muscle. On others, it’s about lifting the intensity and challenging your fitness.

Find Your Class

The Pulse timetable gives you four ways to train:

  • Total Build: Full-body hypertrophy training focused on building muscle.
  • Lower Build: A strength-focused session targeting your lower body.
  • Upper Build: Dedicated hypertrophy training for your upper body.
  • PULSE: A higher-intensity workout designed to raise your heart rate and challenge your conditioning.

You’ll have your own bench and equipment throughout the session. Arrive, settle into your station and focus on your workout, with everything you need within reach.

Music and lighting work with the programming to build the energy through each session. It’s a training space designed to make you want to come back.

3. North Sydney: Two Playground

The lobby of a gym

More space to train. More room for Reformer. A little more breathing room around your session.

We know North Sydney gets busy. To create more capacity for the community, we’ve taken over the building next door, expanding the club with a space we’re calling Two Playground.

Everything you already enjoy will remain, with an additional gym floor giving you more room to train.

A second dedicated Reformer Pilates studio will expand the club’s class capacity, while additional amenities and changing rooms will give you more space to get ready and move on with your day.

It’s an extension of your club, designed around making your regular visit work better for you.

Looking Ahead to 2027

These projects will roll out over the next three months, bringing refreshed spaces and new training experiences as we head into 2027.

We’ll keep you updated on timings and any changes to access or classes along the way. Whether you’re discovering PULSE, stepping into a new Reformer studio or returning to a refreshed gym floor, there will be more to experience within your membership.
